Renovating
Is Tough Work - Here Are Some Things You Should Know
1. Quality Remember the old adage, "measure twice, cut once". When it comes to renovations, be sure your plumbing contractor knows what he/she is doing.
2. Quality It's worth repeating - quality counts. The very last thing you want for your project is a job that's half done or done half wrong. Cutting costs is not the same thing as cutting corners, yet too often the latter ends up happening. This costs you in the long run.
3. Compare Apples to Apples When Reviewing Quotes Spend the time to understand the quotes you receive and be sure to review what's included so you can compare "apples to apples". What you think is included in a project and what is actually included can be two different things. Choose a contractor who will spend the time reviewing what's included in your bid so that you understand it. Once you thoroughly understand what you are paying for you will be better equipped to decide between proposals.
4. Reputation Be sure to consider a company's reputation when entering into a remodeling project with them. Are they reliable? Experienced? Will they be around to honor any warranties? Are they willing to give you a certificate of insurance? Waivers of lien?
5. Ask Questions The construction industry exposes tradesman to all types of other trades. If you need a recommendation or are looking for a company you can trust, ask an existing contractor you trust. Every week we get calls from loyal customers looking for contractors for things like electrical, carpentry or general contracting. We will gladly give you the names of people we recommend.
