RPZ (Backflow Device)
A Reduced Pressure Zone valve (RPZ) is a device used to protect your drinking water from contamination. Irrigation systems, pools, spas, fire sprinkler systems and large boilers - all of these create a situation where contaminated water could potentially back-siphon into the drinking water and cause health problems for your family. The RPZ protects against this. Local municipalities require that RPZ devices be tested and certified annually in order to assure that they are functioning properly and providing you with protection year after year.
In order to be qualified to do this testing/certification, not only do you have to be a licensed plumber but, in addition, you must have cross connection control certification with the State of Illinois. To attain this, a plumber must attend a 32 hour training class and pass a state exam. They must renew this certification with the State every year. In addition, the specialized equipment required must be independently calibrated and certified every year. Mahoney Plumbing has the technicians and the tools required to do this testing/certification. We can install or repair RPZ’s.
